IS IT IMPORTANT FOR US TO READ?

Nowadays, many people are lazy to read, especially a book. Why? Because with the invention of television, cellphone , and most recently, the internet and computer games. It seems that reading books is no longer a popular activity in the environment. However, I believe that books are an irreplaceable part of our lives and the role of written books can growth our personal and development of a particular person throughout one's life. Books directly enrich our power to express ourselves, our knowledge, and to escape from the real life.

I believe that books are more effective, because when we read we can use our imagination and think out of the box, but some people may think that films and TV documentaries do the same thing like books do. Films and TV show, we see the same content, whatever the director wish to show, but books, books are different. The experience we got through reading is amazing and more personal. Since the same word choice will result in as many different interpretations as there are readers. Books allow us to experience whatever is narrated by the author, through our ideas and our imagination.

Moreover, books also enrich our vocabulary. Even reading seemingly more primitive, Fiction book can enrich our personal vocabulary with dozens of new words, help us build more brief sentences on our own and express our self better, make people speech more intelligent and up-to-date. While, watching TV programs and films can also widen our vocabulary, but hardly as effectively as books do. Since, our imagination reproduces mental pictures of what we are reading about, so a new word automatically links to an image and a particular feelings that it relates to. Therefore, reading books is a wonderful tool when it comes to learning and developing our vocabulary at any age.

Books are amazing source of inspiration. Unlike travelling, books help is create our own mental illustration for what we read on paper. In a certain sense, books make us all free to create our own cartoons, movies, or illustration in our head. Every image we create is automatically present a certain emotion, whether a simple even a complicated one. Every illustration in our head that written word projects is enthusiastic with feelings and emotions. This is what make books powerful and memorable. Books are an limitless source of inspiration and motivation to become a better person.

Books that I am talking about are books that do not have an expiration date and will be priceless for any generation. In conclusion, books forever will continue sparking new ideas, inspiring more people, and enriching the lives of every generation to come. I am sure that books will eventually regain their popularity again with today’s teenager. Ever since, unlike the popular games or fashion today, books are those source to which people will go back, in search of inspiration and motivation to find the true meaning and value of our life.

Personal Statement

I have first-line to study English Literature because I don't as yet have a clear idea of what career i want to step into and feel it is a subject that will give me plenty of options after my education has ended. Furthermore, I believe that it will give me with the basis for the kind of original thinking mandatory in any job as well as give me a broad range of transferable skills that many employers would gain.

The one thing that i really relish doing and would never get tired is reading and constantly looking out for stimulating and thought-provoking material. It was therefore only natural that I streamed towards studying English Literature at college. That experience gave me an excellent introduction to the world of academy, as well as sopping my appetite for the subject by enabling me to fully see the many literary issues and themes that were available for research and discussion. College also made me see just how valuable good writing, researching and presentation skills are to communicating and finding employment.

I am currently looking for a university where modules are taught in a ambience of discussion and where self- reliant thought and contribution is encouraged and valued. It is for these reasons that I have chosen to further my studies at your university and also because of its good academic environment and strong professional reputation. Since my first prospective email right through to when I attended your open house. I find our that your institution had a warm and welcoming environment and was a intellectually brace place in which to be a undergraduate. I was also pleased to discover that although it is a big university, it's very easy to get around. I lusty believe that your university is the place to be for anyone with a serious interest in English Literature.

Me, Myself, and I

My name is Fitria Zulfa. I am a English Literature student in Binus University. I was born on the 12th January in 1997. I have got 3 siblings, an elder sister and brother and I am the third one. I'm mostly close with my mom. However, I do love my entire family too and make the most of it whenever I am with them.

I have been living and studying in Jakarta since I was a kid. I do love Jakarta back then when there is no traffic jam everywhere. I love going to new places and meet new people in my life, because we only life once right? Some interests I have got are; reading books, wacthing movies, shopping and singing. I love to read books, because books can always be true friends. They never demand neither do they complain. This is the way I look upon books. Mostly I read novels. Currently I am reading a novel called "BANGKOK”. Moving on to favourite movies: something borrowed, love rosie, zootopia. Basically the list can go on and on. I must be up to date with the latest movies.

I can say that I am a responsible and a hard-working student. Moreover, being a sociable person, I have many friends since I like to communicate with people and get to know new interesting individuals. I enjoy my time at college: it is really nice to study and the students are very friendly and ready to help. The atmosphere cannot but make me want to go there every time. I like to receive and deal with challenging tasks. I am a very enthusiastic student and I think this is a strong point of mine.
My friends say that I am a very funny and an interesting girl with a good sense of humor. As soon as I meet new people who are happy to meet me, I feel extremely comfortable with them. I believe that friendship is one of the most important values in human life. We exchange new ideas, find many interesting things about each other and experience new things. I appreciate friendship and people who surround me.

I have achieved many different goals in life. Some of my achievements are bigger than the others, which has given me greater satisfaction. The achievements that gave me the greatest personal satisfaction includes: Going to college, Learning English language, Getting my driver's license, Be a radio announcer, and many more.

My achievements have helped me to get ahead in life.

Then last but not least Goals,
I hope to get better at English literature this term. 3 years from now, I want to become a succesfull business woman, and graduate from Binus University, obviously. As a Business woman, my primary goals are managing people, set budgets, and making decisions of all kinds.

Thankyou.
